Green Muslims is excited to announce our annual “Our Deen is Green!” (ODIG) Youth Outdoor Education Program. This fall, we will embark on a new adventure to explore the great outdoors and experience Allah’s creation in the nation’s capital!
We hope to inspire Muslim youth to grow closer to our deen and Allah by connecting environmental conservation and stewardship to the teachings of our beloved Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
The ODIG program will be held over the course of two Saturdays: November 5th (Dumbarton Oaks Park) and November 12th (North Columbia Heights Green) 10 AM – 2 PM. Youth ages 13 to 18 are eligible to participate, and we are currently accepting applications. We will select 15 participants.
Parents should drop off their participants at 9:30 AM at the respective venues on each Saturday.
Students will participate in interactive sessions that focus on how climate change affects them and how to make sustainable life choices in the spirit of Islam.
Lunch and snacks will be provided.
Can parents participate? While we appreciate parental support, we want students to own their experience. If you have specific concerns, please feel free to contact our Director of Youth Education, Muna Rehman at email@example.com.
If you are 12 years or younger, stay tuned for our ODIG announcement in the spring when we will insh’Allah offer another program for you!
